Technical Assessment of Wind Energy Potentiality in Malaysia Using Weibull Distribution Function

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this paper, an assessment of the wind characteristics and power potentials in three different stations (Chuping, Kuantan Melaka) Malaysia has been analyzed at 80 m height. The technique was based on two-parameter Weibull distribution function over recent consecutive years (2018-2020) while aiming to establish potentiality as a source generation these sites. results demonstrate that monthly highest mean speeds were 4.42 m/s, 2.96 m/s 2.17 Melaka, Chuping, respectively. most probable speed 4.70 carrying maximum energy 1.74 m/ both occurred Maleka 2019. yearly shape parameter 1.69 scale m/s. Among stations, Melaka shown with average value 26.10 W/m2 followed by 12.71 Chuping 6.80 density. corresponding densities 595.58 kWh/m2/year, 111.37 kWh/m2/year 228.65 for station, prevailing directions are northeast west southwest direction station. It is therefore concluded sites covered present study only feasible small-scale generations.

A Statistical Analysis of Wind Energy Potential in Ibadan, Nigeria, Based on Weibull Distribution Function

Modeling of wind speed variation is an essential requirement in the estimation of the wind energy potential for a typical site. In this paper, the wind energy potential in Ibadan (Lat. 7.43N; Long. 3.9E; Alt. 227.2m) is statistically analyzed using daily wind speed data for 10 years (1995-2004) obtained from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria. The daily,...
